The Course
Christianity Explored is for anyone who wants to investigate Christianity in a friendly, relaxed and informal environment. The course examines who Jesus was, what his aims were, and what it means to follow him today by studying the gospel of Mark.
You don't need to know anything about the Bible. You won't be asked to read aloud, pray or sing. You can even ask any questions you want!
The course is best explained by someone who recently undertook it; here’s what Jan had to say:
The Christianity Explored course was a truly wonderful experience for me.
Having never read the Bible before, the course gave me a friendly and welcoming place to begin.
During the course we studied the Gospel of Mark from the New Testament and our leaders helped us with interesting explanations wherever needed. A weekly DVD aided our understanding greatly.
We were each given a Bible - a gift indeed! For me, it is now a constant source of comfort, learning and encouragement - how did I ever live without it?
Over the 10 weeks of the Course I realized the importance of God's will and, when I needed him most, the Holy Spirit filled me - another gift - one that has changed my life forever.
My life 'before' now seems empty to me - I shall not look back. "I once was lost, but now am found..."
The evenings will begin with a meal cooked by Church members, followed by a discussion about the previous week’s topic. A DVD is then shown with a brief talk on a particular theme (presented by Rico Tice of All Souls Church, Langham Place), and this is followed with a discussion about any points which may have arisen as a result. All of the relevant materials are provided and the course is completely free of charge.
Our next course will begin on Tuesday 12th January 2010 - please get in touch if you are interested in attending. We would love to be able to meet you and go through the course with you, as well as share a hearty dinner!
