All of us at Corringham Evangelical Church would like to take the time to wish you and your families a very happy Christmas and we pray that 2022 will be a year where you and our local community will be blessed.
Christmas can be a messy time of year, can’t it? Now, we’re not just talking about the screwed up wrapping paper all over the living room floor, or the piles upon piles of dirty plates and oven dishes on the kitchen side. Life in general has a tendency of being messy at times, and at Christmas a spotlight is often thrown on that mess. Dai Woolridge puts it like this:
“Christmas can feel like a highlighter pen on your life. If all is right with the world, all the good stuff is lit up in multicolour. If life is a constant grind and a daily struggle to get out of bed, it can feel like a slap in the face because it’s all the low points that get highlighted”.Dai Woolridge, “A Christ-mess Story”
Well, 2,000 years or so ago, there came one that was born into the mess of a manger, into the mess of a frowned-upon marriage, into the mess of a conquered nation, and into the mess of a broken world. This Christmas we invite you to discover more about the mess of that first Christmas – to see how Jesus was born into the mess, for our mess. This year, we invite you to look into the mess to discover the mess-age of the mess-iah.
