Christmas Services 2012

Christmas is a busy time for every church, and this year is no exception here at Corringham Evangelical.

It is very easy to get caught up in the tradition of doing the same things year-on-year but all of our Christmas services happen for a reason and are designed to celebrate Jesus’ birth.

On Sunday 16th December, instead of our evening service we will be going out to sing carols around the old Corringham area. We do this each year, alternating our route, in order to sing about the Christmas message and give out leaflets about our Christmas services. If you do see us out and about then please give us a wave and stop to listen; don’t worry though, we don’t collect money so you needn’t avoid us! We spend some time praying (at 5.00pm) before going out carol singing at 5.30pm.

Our main Christmas services take place on Sunday 23rd December. Our morning service (11.00am) is a family service that involves our TJC (The Junior Church). TJC will sing some songs and take part in Christmas-themed activities and although they can be shy they appreciate it when lots of people come along to watch them.

On the evening of Sunday 23rd December (6.30pm) we will hold our annual Carols by Candlelight service. Each year the service promises to be a spectacular evening’s entertainment that is not always traditional and often a little bit different. The service will be run by the TNT (Twenties and Thirties) with some help from a few others. Although some people have to be cajoled into performing, it makes it worthwhile when the church is packed to the rafters each year! To make the evening even more appealing it will be followed by mince pies and sausage rolls to which everyone is invited to stay and enjoy.

The final service of note is on Christmas day (Tuesday 25th December) at 10.00am. This is a chance to join together and spend 45 minutes at the start of the day focusing on the very point of Christmas. Many people find it useful to spend some time singing, praying and reading the Bible before a day of festive busyness begins, and we would encourage you to join us.

Hopefully one or more of our services appeal to you and you will be able to join us. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
