Christmas 2020

**IMPORTANT – Sunday 20 December’s physical services have been cancelled (but will be available on YouTube)**

Following this afternoon’s announcement that Essex is moving into a Tier 4 lockdown, the Oversight have made the exceptionally difficult decision to cancel our physical Christmas services that were due to take place tomorrow.

While churches are allowed to meet under Tier 4, it is quite clear that the incidence of Covid-19 is exceptionally high in the local area at the moment, and we are personally aware of a significant number of people who are suffering or self-isolating.  We also have to consider that families have been told that they are unable to meet together over Christmas and therefore it does not necessarily send the right message to bring a large group together in the building, even though we have worked very hard to make it as safe as possible.

We don’t yet really know how easily the new variant of the virus is transmitting and we would all be devastated if there was an outbreak emanating from the church or if someone became seriously ill after attending church.

We shall be considering future physical meetings over the next couple of weeks (we weren’t due to meet until the new year anyway) and will update you as further information becomes available.

In the meantime, our Christmas service will be live on YouTube at 11.00am tomorrow – please follow this link to take part: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYe-0QcHCQk

Please pray that a combination of the vaccine and government measures will have an effect sooner rather than later, and please continue to pray for the Oversight as we seek to navigate our way through this very challenging time.

We just wanted to take this opportunity to wish you a very Happy Christmas!

This year has been challenging, hasn’t it? (In fact, you might say it’s been a bit rubbish!) We’re all a bit fed up with lockdowns, facemasks, and all things Covid-related. It can get on top of us and leave us feeling a bit hope-less.

Whilst this Christmas might not be “normal”, and we might miss the parties, work-do’s, shopping, and festivities, perhaps it’s an opportunity to take a minute to remember what’s important about this season.

The Christmas story might just be something you remember from when you were little but it is no fairy tale! Over 2,000 years ago, something happened that not only changed history, it changed everything! It’s the story that we need right now. It’s a story of joy, a story of peace, a story of love, and it’s a story of HOPE!

We’ll be sharing more of this story of hope over the coming weeks at our Christmas services and we would love for you to join us!

Wishing you a very blessed Christmas,

All at Corringham Evangelical Church

“…His name will be the hope of the world.”

Our planned Christmas services are as follows:

Sunday 20 December 2020 – 11.00am on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYe-0QcHCQk

Friday 25 December 2020 – 10.00am – Christmas Day gathering on Zoom

Sunday 27 December 2020 – 11.00am – Open Service on Zoom

Please note that unfortunately we are not able to walk around Old Corringham carol singing this year due to Government restrictions.

Kids’ Zone

Normally at this time of year we would host Kids’ Zone, a chance for young people to prepare lots of fun crafts and treats just in time for Christmas. Because of Covid-19, we can’t hold this safely in person this year, so instead we’re bringing Kids’ Zone right into your house!

Over on the Kids’ Zone page are lots of craft videos for you to have a go at. Please take a look!
